Grantee Lake County School District Makes Turnaround Progress

Gates grantee Lake County School District (LCSD) earned an “Accredited with Improvement Plan” rating on the Colorado Department of Education’s most recent accreditation framework as a result of measurable improvements in academic achievement across the district. This change gives the district additional time to continue to fully realize reforms set forth by LCSD superintendent, Wendy Wyman, in collaboration with Gates staff, and pulls the district off of the 5 year statutory timeline referred to as the “accountability clock”. To date, LCSD has initiated several key reforms, including the adoption of a district-wide expeditionary learning model supported by Marcia Fulton, former school leader of Gates grantee The Odyssey School, and support from gates grantee Achievement Network to roll out robust professional development, coaching, and assessment.
