Project Description

indieDwell, based in Boise, Idaho, is a public benefit corporation (PBC)* that builds modular, durable, sustainable, energy-efficient, affordable housing, while also creating living-wage jobs and workforce development opportunities for its employees. In partnership with the Colorado Health Foundation, the Pueblo Economic Development Corporation (PEDCO), and the State of Colorado, indieDwell opened a new factory in Pueblo in July 2020. The 100,000 square foot factory is in downtown Pueblo adding to the downtown’s revitalization efforts with new jobs and greater affordable housing capacity across the state.

This program-related investment from Gates — an interest-only loan for years 1-2 at 2%, with interest and principal paid equally in years 3-5 — supports the growth and expansion of the indieDwell-Colorado’s Pueblo factory.

*A Public Benefit Corporation is a specific type of corporation that allows for a public benefit to be a charter purpose in addition to the traditional corporate goal of maximizing profit for shareholders.
