Project Description

In 2015, the Gates Family Foundation board of trustees approved an allocation of $3,250,000 over six years (2014-2019) to advance landscape scale conservation in Southeast Colorado. The overarching objective is to protect intact short grass prairie on private ranchland, as well as agricultural lands along the Lower Arkansas River.

A pool of funds was set aside for this purpose, allowing staff to move nimbly when working with long-term strategic partners to support land acquisition and other opportunities.

To date, the following grants have been made to advance the SE Colorado Focus Landscape initiative.
