Greater Colorado Venture Fund - Gates Family Foundation
Here is an important announcement. Click here to learn more.
Project Description

An investment in an impact-driven fund pioneering venture capital in rural Colorado. GCVF is one of the only venture capital funds focused exclusively on making seed-stage investments and igniting entrepreneurship activity outside of the Front Range, to ensure that the rest of Colorado can benefit from economic growth in the state.

GCVF understands that a traditional venture capital approach will not work in rural communities and has designed a $15 million blended portfolio with equity investments, equity follow-on investments, and alternative investment structures for companies not likely to exit or not seeking an exit strategy but interested in growing profitability and keeping the business in the family. The general partners of GCVF plan to leverage their experience in the startup (Techstars) and accelerator (Startup Colorado) communities to support entrepreneurs with quarterly curated events specific to the needs of the portfolio companies. Entrepreneurs will also have access to some of the best minds in venture for one-on-one mentoring.
