Cristina González-Avram joined Gates Family Foundation in August 2023, to support each program and the organization holistically in learning, evaluation, and program design. She is a strategic, equity-focused social impact professional with 14 years of experience in the program strategy and implementation space. Prior to Gates, Cristina served as Vice President of Impact Services at ResultsLab (2021-2023), a Denver-based consultancy supporting nonprofit and philanthropic clients; as Vice President of Programs at Big Green (2015-2020), a Boulder-based national nonprofit serving more than 300,000 school-aged children annually; and as Senior Research Specialist for the Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals (2011-2016), a national institute designed to strengthen Tribal capacity and sovereignty in environmental and natural resource management through culturally relevant education, research, partnerships, and policy-based services. Cristina’s specialties include program design, capacity building, and technical assistance; organization-wide and program-level learning and evaluation; and organizational effectiveness. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Sociology from the University of San Francisco, a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences and Policy from Northern Arizona University, and a Certificate in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Strategy from the University of Colorado Boulder’s Leeds School of Business.
